The ability to send flowers with a touch of a mouse is very appealing in this Internet age, because with our intense work and life schedules, sometimes we just don’t have time to visit a local florist. People living in rural areas or those with handicaps particularly enjoy the option to send flowers online.  An Online florist is the perfect way to send flowers and gifts worldwide for any occasion and they are accessible 24/7.  There are numerous online florists so you can easily do comparison shopping for the best offers and seasonal discounts. For ease of use, floral websites generally categorize items by occasion, color, flowers, plants, gourmet gifts and specials that are being offered. They also provide defined descriptions and pictures of the items beings sold.

Florists offer much more then flowers, such as gift baskets, cakes, cookies, brownies, wines, fruit baskets, spa gifts and more. Many sites also provide customer feedback and product reviews.  Another advantage to ordering flowers online is the ability to do comparison shopping and seek out the best deal before you send flowers. Many floral websites offer the flexibility of customizing your flower bouquet and same day delivery is generally available so the flowers
are delivered fresh right to your door.

The person that send flowers generally put some thought into selecting a beautiful floral arrangement, and when you receive that beautiful bouquet of flowers you want to prolong that beauty; there are some options for prolonging the beauty.

1. Always use a clean vase.  Glass is the best and acrylic is a good as well.  Avoid metal vases as the metal changed the pH of the water and shortens the life of the flowers. Add plenty of water. At least half full.

2. Use flower food that comes with flowers.  If flower food is not available then you can:

  • Dissolve a tbs. of sugar in a quart of tepid water. Add 1 tsp. of lemon juice, vinegar, bleach or crushed aspirin to the water and mix well. Pour your flower food water into a vase and add the flowers.
          OR
  • Add one part of lemon-lime soda (not diet) to 3 parts of water and to each quart of this solution add 1/4 teaspoon of household bleach. Thereafter add 1/4 teaspoon of bleach after each four days of use.
